Kier Vander Wal, Builder
Kier has been around the construction world since he was young. Growing up with a father and grandfather who both were contractors, he learned the ropes quite early. Kier has been in North and South Dakota his entire life, knowing first hand what it takes to build in the upper midwest. With nearly 20 years of hands-on experience, Kier has worked in nearly every aspect of residential construction, including roofing, siding, framing, flooring, cabinetry, remodeling, and custom home building. This broad background allows him to bring practical knowledge, attention to detail, and problem-solving expertise to every project.
Kier and Candy have been married for nine years and proud parents of two energetic boys who bring endless joy and adventure to their lives. Outside of work, Kier enjoys spending time with family, collecting antiques and advertising Americana, and working on projects around their property.

Candace Vander Wal, Design Manager
Candace has had a passion for design and creativity from a young age. As a child, she spent countless hours doodling, drawing, coloring, and bringing her ideas to life on paper. She studied under local artists to develop a strong artistic foundation and an eye for design that continues to shape her work today.
As Bison Build Co.’s Design Manager, Candace combines her creativity, visualization skills, and practical understanding of how families live to help clients bring their ideas to life. She has a unique ability to quickly understand a client’s vision and often begins creating thoughtful design concepts within the first few minutes of an initial meeting.
Before entering the design and construction industry, Candace built a successful career in healthcare as an athletic traininer and strength and conditioning specialist. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Mary. Her background in healthcare taught her to listen intentionally, pay close attention to detail, and understand the unique needs, goals, and lifestyles of each individual – skills that now help her design homes that serve families well for years to come.
Candace is by your side throughout the entire building process, helping transform ideas into a home that reflects your family’s lifestyle and personality. From floor plan concepts and virtual walkthroughs to interior selections and cohesive design details, she works closely with each client to ensure their home feels thoughtfully designed, functional, and uniquely theirs.
